Del Lago says it paid more than $53 million to municipalities in its first year

Officials at the Delago Resort & Casino on Route 414 said they paid more than $53 million to the state and the town of Tyre, Seneca County and other local counties in the 14 months after opening.

Casino officials said 80% of the total game revenue shared goes to states allocated for public education.

Tiresi is the community that hosts the $440 million facility, and Seneca County has received more than $2.6 million in funding each from Del Lago. Six other counties in the 5th District split another $5.3 million, and the town and county each received 5 percent of Del Lago’s payments to the state government.

Casino officials say this is in addition to the $50 million state license fee paid by the Wilmorite Company. Of that, Tyre and Seneca counties each received $2.5 million, while the other counties split a proportional share of $5 million.

During the application process, the payment was made even though the game revenue was less than originally expected.

Casino officials also said Del Lago will pay $1.5 million in local property taxes as well as nearly $100,000 in hotel room occupancy taxes through June. The latter money will go to the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, which serves as the county’s tourism promotion agency.

Aaron Gomes, chief operating officer at Del Lago, said the facility employed more than 1,200 people, another positive economic impact.

“Over a little over a year, Del Lago’s tax payments have allowed more than $10 million to flow into local governments, reducing or retaining local property taxes,” Gomes said.

Tyre supervisor Ron McGreevy said game tax revenues received from casinos had significantly lowered town property taxes and allowed towns to start repairing aging infrastructure and replacing old highway equipment.

“We are also in talks to expand existing small bodies of water by supplying municipal water to some areas of Tyre, which has water and water supply problems. Thanks to Del Lago, we are able to do this,” McGreevy said.

Seneca County Board of Supervisors President Bob Shipley reported that “$2.6 million is a lot of money for Seneca County taxpayers.”

He said casinos have also increased the county’s sales tax revenue, allowing it to rebuild its property tax reduction fund.

“After seeing what Del Lago has been able to do for just over a year, the future prospects for our county and region are looking much brighter,” Shipley said.

Some local businesses have seen significant increases in revenue since casinos and resorts opened.

Steve Vankirk, director of production at Seneca Falls, said the company is printing Delago side items, stationery, and invitations.

“For more than 65 years, Wilson Press & Mail House has served central New York, and our partnership with Dell Lago Resort & Casino has truly helped improve our game in the industry,” said Vankirk. “Our partnership has enabled us to add two new printing presses to ensure a much smoother workflow for all our current and future customers, not just Dell Lago.”

The casino has 99 gaming tables, including 1,956 slot machines and 14 poker tables. It also has an entertainment venue of 2,400 people: a restaurant, spa, local food and beverage, and a 205-room hotel. 에볼루션 바카라사이트
