Leading doctors say they should talk to problem gamblers early about treatment options, including conversational therapy and software that restricts internet games.
There are currently 12 NHS gambling treatment clinics in the UK, with three more now in planning stages. Patients can visit any of these clinics.

The analysis showed that men gamble more than women, mainly online, where only 15% of men participate in gambling but only 4% of women.

GamCare, a charity that runs the National Gambling Helpline, also said healthcare workers can play an “important role” in reducing harm by helping individuals receive support.
Fiona McLeod, head of services, said: “I believe that if these recommendations are implemented, they will provide a greater opportunity to prevent any harm to gambling in the UK.”
