The ‘refreshed’ NBA Cup…LeBron-WBY-Durant in West Group B

The National Basketball Association’s (NBA) in-season tournament, which was first introduced last season, will be rebranded as the NBA Cup beginning in the 2024-2025 season.

The NBA announced on Wednesday (July 13) that it will host the Emirates NBA Cup 2024.

The NBA Cup is a revamped version of the in-season tournament that was first held last year as a cup competition in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Lakers were the inaugural champions, and LeBron James was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The group stage, which runs from November 13 to December 3 in Korea, will see 30 teams compete for a spot in the tournament, divided into six groups of five teams.

Each team will play four games (two at home and two away) against the other four teams in twice-weekly “Cup Nights” during this period.

The first-place finisher from each group advances to the knockout rounds, while the top two best-performing teams from each group join the quarterfinals as “wild cards” to play a single-elimination match.

If two or more teams are tied for first place, the order of finish will be determined by head-to-head record in the group stage, goals scored in the group stage, points scored in the group stage, last season’s NBA regular season record, and a lottery. Wildcard spots will also be awarded based on goal differential and points scored.

The quarterfinals will take place Dec. 11-12 at each venue, with the semifinals and finals taking place Dec. 15 and 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The winning team will receive the NBA Cup trophy and cash prizes.

Like the in-season tournament, which is played in conjunction with regular season play, all 67 games of the NBA Cup will count toward the regular season record, except for the finals.

The groupings are based on last season’s regular-season record, with the Eastern and Western Conferences assigned Ports 1 (1-3), 2 (4-6), 3 (7-9), 4 (10-12), and 5 (13-15), and then randomly drawn.

Group A in the West included the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Group B included the Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, and San Antonio Spurs.

With James (Lakers), Victor Wembaanyama (San Antonio), Kevin Durant (Phoenix), and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City) among the NBA’s biggest superstars, Group B is sure to be a hotly anticipated event for basketball fans.

The Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, and Memphis Grizzlies will face off in Group C in the West.

The New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and Charlotte Hornets will compete in Group A in the East.

The Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, and Detroit Pistons will face off in Group B in the East, while the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks, and Washington Wizards will compete in Group C.

The group stage schedule will be finalized in August. 메이저사이트
