Oh Jae-won (39), a former professional baseball player who was a member of the national team, was handed over to the prosecution on charges of drug administration.
On the morning of the 29th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul sent Oh Jae-won to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office for violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier on the 10th, Oh Jae-won received a simple drug test after a report from a woman he was with, but he was returned home after testing negative.
However, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul additionally confirmed the clues of Oh Jae-won’s drug administration and arrested him on the 19th.
Since then, the police have applied for an arrest warrant for Oh Jae-won, and on the 22nd, Kim Mi-kyung, a senior judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, issued an arrest warrant the next day after questioning the suspect before his arrest on the 21st.
Oh Jae-won was a player who played for the Doosan Bears in the Korean KBO League for 16 years from 2007 to 2022. He was also selected several times for the national team.
After retirement, he served as a commentator, but last year, he terminated his contract with the broadcaster after raising suspicions about an empty ball over a hit ball between Yang Chang-seop of the Samsung Lions and Choi Jung of the SSG Landers.
