GOLFWEEK “SORENSTAM JOINS AUGUSTA”

Retired “golf queen” Annika Sorenstam (Sweden) has become a member of Augusta National Golf Club, which has a reputation for being picky about its members, U.S. golf publication Golfweek reported on Friday .The outlet cited multiple sources confirming Sorenstam’s membership at Augusta, but added that the golf course declined to confirm the news. Sorenstam retired from the U.S. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour in 2008 after posting 72 wins, including 10 majors.

Augusta does not disclose its membership, citing privacy concerns, but it is believed to have about 300 members, mostly wealthy and influential businessmen .Founded in 1932 as a men’s only golf club, Augusta began hosting the Masters in 1934.
