The Eastern All-Star won the Western All-Star 211-186 at the 2024 NBA All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on the 19th (Korea time).
The All-Star Game was played by players selected from the East and West for the first time in seven years since the 2016-2017 season. Starting this season, players selected as captain have the right to select players and have abolished the existing method of drafting all 30 teams.
In the Eastern All-Star, captain Janis Antetokounmpo, Lillard (Mil Milwaukee), Jason Tatum (Boston), snake Adebayo (Miami), and Tyreece Halliburton (Indiana) started.
The Western All-Star consists of captain LeBron James (LA Lakers), Kevin Durant (Pinx), Nikola Jokic (Denver), Luka Doncic (Dallas), and Shai Gilgers Alexander (Oklahoma City).
Dongbu widened the gap to 53-47 from the first quarter to take the lead. Lillard gained momentum by scoring 13 points in the second quarter alone.
Dongbu, whose score was 104-89 in the third quarter, entertained fans with Lillard’s thrilling 3-pointer. He scored three points at the half-line just seven minutes before the end of the third quarter. Lillard made a total of 11 3-pointers, including a 3-pointer at the half-line right before the game ended.
In the fourth quarter, Dongbu didn’t miss the game and won 211-186 as well. Dongbu became the first team to surpass 200 points in NBA All-Star Game. The previous record was 196 points, which was posted by the Western All-Star Team in 2016.
The All-Star Game was a feast of spectacular 3-pointers. Dongbu made 42 attempts by making 97 3-pointers. Dongbu also made 25 shots by throwing 71.
Lillard became the All-Star MVP after becoming the three-point shooter at the All-Star eve event. It was the first time since Michael Jordan in 1988. Jordan was named the All-Star MVP after becoming the champion with a dunk at the time.
After the game, Lillard said, “I thought I would have a chance in a fairly loose situation in a game like this, so I kept shooting,” adding, “After seeing a few go in, I felt like I was chasing (the ball).”
