Seven interceptions in debut…Bayarsaihan “waited seven years for this moment”

The time spent in South Korea by “Mongolian Youth” Bayarsaihan Batsu (real name Bayarsaihan) was not in vain.

The sweat he shed in an unfamiliar land to reach the V-League did not betray his hard work.

Bayarsayhan made his mark on the fans with an impressive performance from his debut.

OK Financial Group pulled off a come-from-behind 3-1 (16-25 25-20 25-17 25-16) set victory over Korea Electric Power in the home opener of the first round of the Dodram 2023-24 V-League Men’s Division at Sangryoksu Gymnasium in Ansan on Tuesday.

Bayarsaihan, who entered the V-League as an Asian quarterfinalist, led the way with 12 points, including seven blocked shots.

Bayarsaihan stepped on South Korean soil in January 2017, and has since played for Suncheon First and Inha University, pursuing her dream of becoming a volleyball player.

“I lived in Korea for seven years before I made my debut today. I wanted to do my best without losing anything,” she said of her debut, “and I think it paid off today.”

Bayarsayhan’s performance was so unexpected that even her manager was surprised. “I think Bayarsayhan is the least blocking middle blocker in our team, but she did a great job today,” said Masa Ogino. “She still needs to work on her hand shape when side blocking, but if she develops well, opponents will be afraid of her.”

A dream debut in the V-League. It was definitely different from what he was used to.

“Unlike in college, the opponents are professional players and are very skilled, and there are two foreign players in each team, so (the game) felt heavy,” he said.

The stadium atmosphere was also new to Bayarsaihan.

“It’s the first time I’ve played in front of such a big crowd. In the college league, you can talk in a low voice on the bench and it will be heard all the way to the court. But even though 토토 Coach Ogino has a loud voice, he was surprised that there were so many spectators that he couldn’t be heard even if he shouted loudly.”

“It made me realize once again that the Korean V-League is really great,” he concluded.
