The U17 World Cup will be held in Indonesia

The entry included 16 players who participated in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U17 Asian Cup (second-place winner) in June, including captain Kim Myung-joon (Pohang U18), Kang Min-woo (U18 in Ulsan), Lim Hyun-seop (Suwon U18), and Yoon Do-young (Daejeon Hana U18).

Also selected were Bae Sung-ho, Woo Kyu-jung (Daejeon Hana U18), Baek Ga-on (Seoul Boyne High School), Lee Kyung-joon (Suwon U18), and Han Seok-jin (Jeonbuk U18), who did not play in the Asian Cup but showed good performances in the domestic training and off-season training in Indonesia and Spain. Of the 21, 20 are players born in 2006, and Han Seok-jin is the only player born in 2007.

“It is regrettable that some of the players who have prepared for the tournament together are unable to join due to injuries, but as we have done, we will continue to play active soccer that leads the game no matter which team we meet on the World Cup stage,” head coach Byun Sung-hwan said.

The team will convene at Paju NFC on the 30th and conduct training until the 5th before departing for Indonesia on the 6th.

Starting with the match against the U.S. on November 12, South Korea will play France on November 15 and Burkina Faso on November 18. In the U17 World Cup, where 24 teams will participate, 16 countries, including the top two countries in each group and four countries with good performance among the third place in the group, will determine the winner through the tournament.

Korea will participate in the U17 World Cup seven times, including this tournament, and its best record is the quarterfinals recorded in 1987, 2009, and 2019.
