Bakenbauer is the role model” – Kim Min-jae “The first goal in Bayern Munich is to play in the foreground.”

Kim Min-jae expressed his feelings about joining Bayern Munich this season through an interview with the Bayern Munich club on the 1st (Korea Standard Time). Kim Min-jae was recognized as the league’s best defender by winning the best defender award selected by the Serie A secretariat last season by playing the leading role of Napoli’s Serie A victory. Kim Min-jae will continue his challenge to win Bayern Munich, which aims to win 12 consecutive Bundesliga titles.

Kim Min-jae said, “I’ve liked soccer since I was young. It wasn’t my cup of tea to sit at home. I felt like soccer was just right for me. I started as a striker at first, but when I was 12 to 13, I realized I preferred defense. “I’m happy to move to Bayern Munich via China, Turkey and Napoli,” he said.

Kim Min-jae, who entered Bayern Munich through Beijing Guoan (China), Fenerbahce (Turkiye), and Napoli (Italy), starting with Jeonbuk in the K League, said, “I faced strong strikers in China and improved my one-on-one skills. In Turkey, he often used spatial defense and was helpful in that regard. I could tell when to back down and when to go forward. At Napoli, Italy were tactically flexible, so both abilities were needed. I was able to play my game and was asked by the coach to participate in the attack. “I did a lot of physical tests in Serie A,” he said.

Kim Min-jae, who said Barkenbauer and Lucio were role models, said, “Both players were incredibly strong defenders. Great ability in build-up as well. The most impressive thing was the performance at the highest level for a long time. He has long been a key player for Bayern Munich. “I would be very happy if I could show such a side,” he said.

Bakkenbauer, mentioned by Kim Min-jae as a role model, played for Bayern Munich from 1964 to 1977, winning four Bundesliga titles and three UEFA Champions League titles. He is considered one of the best defenders in world football history beyond Germany, playing as Germany’s leading player in the World Cup in 1974. Bakkenbauer has also won two Ballon d’Or awards.

Lucio has won three Bundesliga titles while playing as a defender for Bayern Munich from 2004 to 2009. He won the UEFA Champions League in the 2009-10 season when he played for Inter Milan and played a leading role in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup in Brazil.

When asked about his goal in Bayern Munich, Kim Min-jae said, “I’m focusing on only one goal. “I’m going to play in every game,” he said. “If I get the same question in January, I’ll be able to talk about my new goal.”

Kim Min-jae started in both Bundesliga matches played by Bayern Munich early this season and has been playing as a main defender since right after joining the team. Bayern Munich is showing off its stable performance by winning a series of complete victories against Bremen and Augsburg.
