K League 2 ‘Final Game of Destiny’…Busan Coach Park Jin-seop “Mentally Prepare”

Busan I-Park head coach Park Jin-seop emphasized the need for his team to overcome the tension of the “final game of fate” that will determine whether they win the K League 2 title.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the team’s home match against Chungbuk Cheongju FC in the 39th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at Busan Asiadju Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Park said, “There is no way there is no pressure. I tried to ease that atmosphere (for the players) as much as possible,” Park said.

“I told them that it might come once in a lifetime, so let’s enjoy it and make it a good memory,” he added.

With a win, Busan will be able to put a smile on their faces and end a long title race with second-place Gimcheon Sangmu that went down to the final match of the season.

A win for Busan, which currently has 69 points, would clinch the title on its own, ahead of Gimcheon (68 points), which faces Seoul Eland at the same time. On the other hand, a tie or loss would give them the trophy, depending on the outcome of Gimcheon’s match.

Park said, “I won’t give (the players) news about Gimcheon during the game. However, I will be aware of it because we have to run the game according to each situation,” Park said.

Busan could have clinched the title early if they had scheduled an away match against the Jeonnam Dragons on the 12th, but they lost 0-3 and were forced to go all out in the final game.

Reflecting on the loss, Park said, “The players were greedy, so their bodies were stiff and their play was messy. We talked a lot about mental preparation (with the players) to prevent that from happening,” Park said, “and explained how to play in such a high-pressure situation.”

Meanwhile, Chungbuk Cheongju coach Choi Yoon-gyeom hoped that his players could reap the benefits of sprinkling chili powder in the final game.

“(The chili powder) is sprinkled by the players. Of course, Busan will be stronger in motivation and desire,” Choi said, adding, “I don’t want us to play a disappointing game. I ordered the players to do their best.”

He also emphasized that he instructed the players to play with a thorough attitude so that there would be no controversy such as ‘looking the other way’ as it is an important game where the opposing team’s championship is at stake.

“I told them enough to do their best, not to talk about anything else unintentionally, and to be prepared for any mistakes,” Choi said. 파워볼사이트
