SK Sugar Gliders defeat Samcheok City Hall to extend their winning streak to five games.
The SK Sugar Gliders defeated Samcheok City Hall 27-24 on Thursday in the sixth game of the third round of the Shinhan SOL Pay 23-24 Handball H League Women’s Division at Light Goeul Gymnasium in Seo-gu, Gwangju, South Korea.
The SK Sugar Gliders remained in first place with 17 wins, two draws and one loss, and 36 points. With the loss, Samcheok City Hall remains in fourth place with 10 wins, one draw and nine losses and 21 points, but has lost three straight games.
SK Sugar Gliders won all three games against Samcheok City Hall. As Samcheok City Hall prepares for the postseason, it will need a new strategy.
With both teams having clinched a spot in the postseason, the second half saw both teams utilize their bench players to keep their starters fresh.
Early in the second half, the SK Sugar Gliders jumped out to a quick 8-4 lead thanks to the play of their top scorer Kang Kyung-min and a pair of saves from Lee Min-ji.
Samcheok City Hall scored four goals in a row to tie the game at 8-8 while Park made six saves in a row. The SK Sugar Gliders were held scoreless for more than nine minutes as Park Sae-young kept them off the board.

With Kim Bo-eun out for two minutes, the SK Sugar Gliders took advantage of a pivot play utilizing Kang Eun-hye to extend their lead to 18-11. As the score grew closer, both teams used their bench players to trade points back and forth, with SK Sugar Gliders eventually taking the 27-24 victory.
